Yoga offers good beginners ' education

Trying to find fitness videos well produced really suited for beginners can be a daunting challenge.

Most bands these days are aimed at intermediate exercisers, those who know a screw from a lateral and a step raise box from a biceps curl. These ribbons can offer some easier moves here and there, but the statement is clearly geared to people who already know what to do.

Some tapes that are marketed for beginners are often extremely repetitive, as if the flabby muscles always mean a brain flabby. And too often, they provide a way to add additional challenge or difficulty to the routine, as if beginning exercisers are to remain forever beginners.

It's nice, then, to discover the area of Yoga : flexibility and tone, a beginner's tape offering the depth and easy pace that need true beginners.

The instructor here is Alan Finger, a middle-aged man looking for genial wearing a polo shirt, cotton trousers rolled up and a Chin length bob. His physique is not chiseled in standard form of exercise videos; It seems as if he could bring a few pounds around the middle.

But he has a good voice (with a hint of an accent) and so quiet, two essential elements for a yoga tape, where relaxation is key.

And he has a real gift for education, combining the nuts-and-bolts details of placement with what feels to stretch and balance.

When he describes how the muscles of the feet should rotate through for the little finger, you know ...--and be able to hear ...--just what he's talking about.

But every move contains many of these statements can be a little overwhelming to try to master all at once.

If you have tried yoga before, you will recognize some of them.--the down-on-fours stretch called the cat and the inverted V that form the dog down the corpse, which requires little more than lying on one's back, completely relaxed.

In another nod to beginners, finger also provides real changes and advice for those who may not be as flexible as they would like.

It demonstrates how finger a folded blanket can be placed under the knees, or for better support during execution of seated postures. A folded towel is also used for different poses, even if your finger does not announce in advance.

The 50-minute session ends with stretching and relaxation, set on gentle New Age music that can lull you to sleep.
